President’s Message

Dear Colleagues, Members and Friends,
After a thrilling summer, which was filled with presentations to ICSSPE all over the world, and the exceptional ICSEMIS convention in Guangzhou, China, it feels a bit strange to know that this will be my last President’s message for an ICSSPE Bulletin. As most of you will know, my term of office will be over at the end of this year and the General Assembly has elected Margaret Talbot from the UK as the new President of ICSSPE. I congratulate her on this election and I am certain that she is the right choice for the position. I could not imagine a better successor for this exciting, interesting and at the same time so special position. I really have enjoyed every minute of my work for ICSSPE and even in difficult times I was lucky enough to find support from my colleagues and friends both within and outside of the organisation. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your never ending assistance.
A special thanks though, should go to the ICSSPE’s Vice Presidents Margaret Talbot, Colin Higgs and Tony Parker. Without their work, ICSSPE would not be where it is today: Thank you so much - it has been a pleasure, working with you!
Other very important person for the organisation, who are also leaving at the end of the year, are Darlene Kluka, as Chair of the Editorial Board and Mike McNamee, Chair of the Associations’ Board. Thank you to both of you for your great help and support!
I also would like to take the opportunity to thank Detlef Dumon, ICSSPE Executive Director, and the staff at the ICSSPE office for their constant support and wonderful teamwork. I have worked over the last ten years with a number of staff members and was always so lucky to be supported so professionally and friendly. I have enjoyed working with all of them. Therefore, thank you so much to all of them.
Last but not least, I want to thank Susi-Käthi Jost, who is the only one remaining in the President’s Committee as Treasurer for her advice and consultancy and all the other old and new Board members for their commitment to ICSSPE.
During my time as ICSSPE President, I met so many interesting people and had the chance to learn a lot from the different sport sciences, from different cultures and from so many interesting people. I had the chance to present my knowledge, my aspirations and hopes and I also had the opportunity to assist in making changes in areas such as Physical Education, Women and Sport, Sport for Persons with a Disability, Sport in Post Disaster Intervention, and many others. I am proud of what we have achieved, but I also know that there is still a lot that needs to be done. For ICSSPE’s next steps and future work, I wish you all the best and I hope that I will have the opportunity to meet with many of you at future events.
Thanks again to all of you!
Please feel free to contact me whenever you wish.
With my very best wishes,

Prof. Dr. Gudrun Doll-Tepper
ICSSPE President
