A very happy new year and welcome to issue number 46 of
the ICSSPE Bulletin! In this issue we have a feature on “Leadership”
which takes a closer look at the current situation in areas such as our
future mentors and women in leadership roles.
2005 was an exciting and busy year for sport with
the UN announcing the International Year of Sport and Physical Education.
ICSSPE has also been very active in supporting this year and you can read
all about our activities and reports including the successful “2nd
World Summit on Physical Education” held in Magglingen, Switzerland
in December and the hands-on seminar “Rehabilitation Through Physical
Activity and Sport for Children and Youth Affected by the Tsunami in Southeast
Asia” held in Bangkok, in October last year.
Our Current Issues section is also full of interesting
research articles with contributions from around the world, covering a
range of topics from a recent study into Medical Excuses in Physical Education,
Sport and Peace, Inclusion of Children with Physical Disabilities in Schools,
Sport and Health Paradigms and Altitude Training.
Finally I would also like to take this opportunity on behalf
of ICSSPE to extend our many thanks and gratitude to Pekka Oja, who’s
term as an Editorial Board member has sadly come to an end in 2005. We
all appreciated his hard work and valued contributions to the ICSSPE Editorial
Board and its Publications over the last 8 years.
I look forward to the New Year and encourage you all to continue sending all your
events, research articles and news to share with all our partners and members.
