Doping continues to be a serious threat to the integrity of sport and the well-being of athletes at grassroots, competitive and elite levels. In most countries it is in contravention of the rule of law (SDG 16.3). Due to its diversity and illicit nature, a range of measures is necessary to combat doping, including education, prevention, detection, deterrence, and research. Countries are increasingly adopting and enforcing relevant legislations in accordance with the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport in accordance with the Code of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
